Happy Valentines Day

Happy Valentines Day everybody! I hope your day goes or has already gone well.

I thought long and hard about what to post today, finally settling on the most beautiful and heartrending song I could come up with. It's called "Samson," and I first heard it last week at the Regina Spektor show when she closed her set with it. I'm not going to say much about it, instead I'll redirect you to Said the Gramophone's write-up, because I like what Sean says.

I'll share my favorite lines, though:

"I cut his hair myself one night/
With a pair of dull scissors in the yellow light/
And he told me that I'd done alright/
And he kissed me 'til the morning light, the morning light"

Just listen, you'll hear what it means to me.

Live at Cabaret Voltaire, Edinburgh February 2, 2006:

McSweeney's has Obsessive-Compulsive Valentines!

Valentines in the blogs:

Gorilla vs. Bear loves us all the time

Yeti Don't Dance has the perfect love song

You Ain't No Picasso has anti-love songs

Which reminds me! All day I listened to one song, although completely inappropriate for the occasion and my mood:

The Secret Machines - Alone, Jealous and Stoned

It's amazing.

The Secret Machines / buy

Enjoy! xxx
