The Wrens

A few days ago, Can You See The Sunset From The Southside posted some Wrens tracks which would later become Meadowlands songs. Did you know the band was almost signed to Drive-Thru Records, home to the poppiest of punk bands? What a discrepancy, right?
Not really - or not as much as expected. The vocals, I realized, aren't too far from standard pop-punk affectations, but remain honest and awesome. The guitars, too, sound much bouncier than those on the album version. It's an interesting listen, like pop-punk done well. Although I doubt we'd slap that derogatory label on it then.
From The Meadowlands, one of the finest albums in recent years:
The Wrens - Everyone Chooses Sides
From the great Secaucus:
The Wrens - Surprise, Honeycomb
The Wrens - Dance The Midwest
From the elusive Silver:
The Wrens - Behold Me
Isn't there supposed to be a film about the band coming out? I might have missed it. "Buy Stuff"
If for some reason you read this blog, but don't read Gorilla vs. Bear, then you need to prioritize. Because he's got stuff like new Jenny Lewis featuring M. Ward, Ben Gibbard, and Conor Oberst. Talk about an All-Star team, jeez!
Enjoy Thanksgiving!
